Corrie and John tied the knot with a rustic and elegant wedding at the Cyderhouse in Durham, New Hampshire. It is such a beautiful rustic and chic wedding venue. You can find everything you are looking from the irresistible charm of the lovingly restored and appointed turn-of-the-century Thompson Inn to the rustic elegance of the once productive Cyderhouse, to trendy farm tables in reception hall.
The couple’s original plans for the day was to have a first look and ceremony outside. I had my eyes on the massive patio space at The Thompson Inn. However, the Mother Nature had other plans! The rain in the forecast meant I had to change all my location and lighting plans along with Corrie and John’s new schedule, with the ceremony in the reception hall. Still, no amount of rain can stop a happy ending. And despite the weather, these two positively shone in their love for each other and for their family and friends who came to celebrate with them.
One of the fun things about photographing this wedding was the fact that Corrie and John didn’t want to go the traditional route. They didn’t want a first dance or a parent dance or anything that was too staged. Instead, they simply wanted everyone to have fun and feel comfortable being themselves.
I tried to do the same for the two of them, especially since I knew that they were both shy and didn’t like being the center of attention. That meant they weren’t necessarily comfortable in front of the camera. And that’s fine—not everyone is! My job as a wedding photographer is to make sure I can genuine smile and document the love story of the day, and I do what I can to help my couples relax to do just that!
John & Corrie, thank you for asking me to be part of your wedding story. I’m glad that, even with the rain, it was definitely a day to remember!
